We are a young vineyard with great expectations. At an elevation of 1500 feet, the grapes thrive in warm days with plentiful sun and cool mountain nights. The vines are planted on steep south-facing terraces designed to promote sunlight and air circulation while the dense mix of slate and shale in the soil promotes drainage. Throughout the property, we employ sustainable farming practices to enrich the soils, protect against erosion, and nurture healthy vines. We do not use chemicals. We only use organic materials for fungus and pest control and organic mulches to enrich the soil and control weeds. We are in the process of being formally certified as organic by the California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF). Each year, under the meticulous direction of Bill Naylor, our vineyard manager, in consultation with Bill Easton, our winemaker, we scrupulously prune the vines to limit yields and carefully handpick grapes at harvest to ensure that only grapes of the highest quality are used to make our wine. |
